El Tavan flight ET837 was forced to divert to Kabiba International Airport following a medical emergency on board the aircraft.
Flight ET837 was enroute to Bara, Bidia from Exarshamulijafor via a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. It departed at 10:02AM from Exarshamulijafor Vittorio Bellanzi Airport via Runway 17R and shortly reached their cruising altitude of 37,000ft. But after cruising for half an hour over the dense desert's of Luma, a passenger, who has been unnamed, experienced a heart attack and collapsed.
Flight attendants rushed to the passenger and tried giving medical assistance, whilst the pilot being informed about the situation on board, started to divert to the nearest airport, that being Kabiba International Airport. The aircraft landed on Kabiba's Runway 26L at 11:17AM, and the passenger was transported to the hospital shortly after.
Passengers described the scene as, "Terrifying and hopeless." But due to the crews quick thinking, the passenger managed to survive the ordeal and now has a story to tell. El Tavan, the airline that was responsible, offered 50,000 LTD (Liscotanian Dollars) compensation to the passenger.
The crew was congratulated for their quick thinking and swift decision making after the flight. And this was the first El Tavan incident since their Airbus A340 crash that killed 147 in December 12 2022.
